DOVER (April 21, 2008) – Service Credit Union booth and prize wheel attracted many at the Kids Fest at the Dover Arena in April.

Hundreds of children from New Hampshire and Maine area came to enjoy the festivities and spin the prize wheel for one of the many Service Credit Union prizes.

PORTSMOUTH (May 12, 2008) __ More than 150 children took part in The Children’s Museum of Portsmouth Annual Fun Run on Saturday, May 3 on the grounds of Strawbery Banke Museum.

Several races were held from a 50-yard dash to a ¼ mile run and Service Credit Union was there as a finish-line sponsor.

PORTSMOUTH (May 2, 2008) – The President’s Volunteer Service Award was presented to Service Credit Union President/CEO Gordon Simmons for his dedicated service especially in the area of providing financial literacy to credit unions’ members.

Simmons received this distinguished honor at the 36th Annual Defense Credit Union Council’s Overseas Subcouncil Meeting in Edinburgh, Scotland in April.

PORTSMOUTH, N.H. (April 4, 2008)--- Service Credit Union received two major honors at the Diamond Awards ceremony Tuesday, March 18 during the CUNA (Credit Union National Association) Marketing and Business Development council’s 15 annual conference in Nashville, Tenn.

Participating with 1,500 entries from 300 credit unions across the United States and Canada, Service Credit Union was awarded The Top Diamond Award for Best Website Marketing and the Diamond Merit Award for Segmented Marketing. The merit honor was given to the credit union for its customized kit to support military member relocation.

In both categories, Service Credit Union entered in the largest asset classification of greater than $1 billion and all marketing materials were internally generated by credit union employees.

EPPING, N.H. (April 15, 2008) – Service Credit Union officially opened its sixth branch inside Wal-Mart with a ribbon-cutting ceremony in Epping on Friday, April 11, 2008.

PORTSMOUTH, N.H. (April 9, 2008) --- The Pease Greeters recently acknowledged Service Credit Union for its continual support of their program to welcome and honor military personnel landing at the Portsmouth International Airport at Pease.

Since its inception in 2005, the Pease Greeters have welcomed 168 flights including 29 this year no matter what time of the day. Ed Johnson, chairman of the Pease Greeters, said the nonprofit organization, meets flights coming in from and going out for deployment.

EPPING, N.H. (March 31, 2008) --- Service Credit Union opened a new full-service branch inside the Epping Wal-Mart on March 10. The Epping branch is the sixth of seven branches planned to open in New Hampshire’s Wal-Mart stores. A Ribbon Cutting Ceremony officially marking the opening of the newest branch will be held Friday, April 11 at 1 p.m. Gordon Simmons, President/CEO, and town officials are scheduled to attend.

PORTSMOUTH, N.H. (March 28, 2008) --- Governor John Lynch and other officials commended Service Credit Union for its years of serving the state and its members commemorating the 51st annual meeting Thursday night, March 27 at the Frank Jones Center.
During the 2008 meeting attended by more than 250 local members and credit union officials, keynote speaker Governor Lynch commended Service Credit Union, stating the state’s largest credit union “sets the standard for all other organizations” and is “a model organization” in the state.

Vogelweh, Germany (December 21, 2007) --- Service Credit Union has announced the first and only Self-Service Shared Branching Kiosk of its kind outside of the United States at the Landstuhl Regional Medical Center. This Self-Service Shared Branching Kiosk is designed to bring financial services to the many visitors, staff and medical staff of the LRMC. A DSN phone that dials directly to the Service Credit Union Contact Center will be available for shared branching members.

PORTSMOUTH, NH (December 20, 2007) --- Service Credit Union in partnership with Financial Service Centers Cooperative, Inc. (FSCC) Shared Branching Network, announce plans for providing convenient financial services at participating 7-Eleven stores across the country.  Members can perform a variety of credit union transactions at 7-Eleven stores via a 24/7 self-service kiosk machine called a Vcom® Unit.

PORTSMOUTH, N.H. (November 21, 2007) --- Service Credit Union held a food drive across all 12 New Hampshire branch locations. From November 1-16, the credit union collected cans and non-perishable food items, leading to a presentation at the New Hampshire Food Bank on Wednesday, November 21st.
Mr. Gordon Simmons, President/CEO of Service Credit Union presented the check to NH Food Bank Director Melanie Gosselin following the weigh-in on November 21st at 11:30 am at the 62 West Brook Street location in Manchester. The amount was known only by Mr. Simmons and the Board of Directors, but was expected to exceed the credit union’s donation last year of $25,000.00.

PORTSMOUTH, N.H. (October 29, 2007) --- Service Credit Union sponsored the eighth annual Ghosts on the Banke Halloween celebration this past weekend at the Strawbery Banke Museum.  Tellers from the Portsmouth and Pease branches dressed as witches and passed out child safety reflectors from their caldron in the form of witches and ghosts, to promote safe trick or treating.  The grounds and historic houses of the museum were transformed with jack-o-‘lanterns, wondering old ghosts and hundreds of lights, lighting the way for children to trick or treat, listen to music by the bonfire or take a wagon ride.

PORTSMOUTH, N.H. (September 10, 2007) --- Service Credit Union will make a presentation of school supplies to the Rochester School District Principals and Superintendent at the School Board Meeting on Thursday September 13 at 7 p.m. in City Council Hall at 31 Wakefield Street in Rochester. The credit union met with the Extended Schools Program and Volunteer Office and developed a wish list for Rochester students based on the community needs.  Service Credit Union CFO Scott Wensley will present the Rochester School System with more than 500 sets of colored pencils, binders, and spiral notebooks provided by Service Credit Union. The credit union will also present 150 backpacks for varying ages, stuffed with hats and mittens for elementary students.

PORTSMOUTH, N.H. (August 31, 2007) --- Gordon A. Simmons, President/CEO of Service Credit Union, has been elected Chairman of the Defense Credit Union Council for the 2007-2008 term. He previously served as Chairman from 2000 - 2002.  Mr. Simmons was elected to the DCUC Board as representative-at-large in 1995. He served as 2nd Vice Chairman from 1996 to 1998 and as 1st Vice Chairman for the 1998-1999 terms and again from 2006-2007.

PORTSMOUTH, N.H. (November 21, 2007) --- Service Credit Union held a food drive across all 12 New Hampshire branch locations between November 1-16 and presented the total donations today at the New Hampshire Food Bank.  More than 1,300 pounds of food was contributed, almost double the amount from the credit union’s food drive the previous year.  Mr. Gordon Simmons, President/CEO of Service Credit Union presented the check for $30,000.00 to NH Food Bank Director Melanie Gosselin following the weigh-in.

(November 28, 2007) --- Service Credit Union is donating gift cards valued at $30,000 to families needing holiday assistance at Pease Air National Guard base and across the 14 Army and Air Force bases where the credit union’s 15 branches serve in Germany.  Gordon Simmons, President/CEO of Service Credit Union presented 20 VISA® gift cards to Colonel Richard Martell, Commander of the 157th Air Refueling Wing.  Richard Tolle, Senior Vice President of Overseas Operations of Service Credit Union and the local Service Credit Union Branch Managers presented 375 VISA gift cards to senior military leaders for distribution throughout the holiday season.

PORTSMOUTH, N.H. (December 20, 2007) --- Service Credit Union recently completed installation of an ATM machine at the Base Exchange (BX) on Pease Air National Guard Base in Portsmouth, NH.  The ATM brings 24/7 access to cash for all personnel on base.

(November 7, 2007) --- Service Credit Union presented the New Hampshire chapters of the Air Force Sergeants Association (AFSA) and the Air Force Association (AFA) with a check of $15,000 for the NH Air Force Memorial Fund, bringing their total donation to $20,000.  The credit union launched the campaign in February with $5,000. The AFSA and AFA are building a memorial to honor all New Hampshire men and women who have served in the United States Air Force at the New Hampshire Veterans Cemetery in Boscowan, NH.  A ground breaking ceremony for the memorial is planned for Sunday November 11th at the cemetery after the 11:00 a.m. Veterans Day ceremonies.

From April 2nd to April 28th, Service Credit Union will collect used coats for families in need at 6 branch locations on the seacoast. All residents are encouraged to go through their closets for coats they no longer want or need. Coats will be dry cleaned and delivered to Rockingham Community Action, SHARE Fund Program and CareLink of York.

PORTSMOUTH, N.H. (February 7, 2007) --- With a $5,000 donation, Service Credit Union kicked off the fund raising campaign of the New Hampshire chapters of the Air Force Sergeants Association and the Air Force Association. The organizations plan to build a memorial to honor all New Hampshire men and women who have served in the United States Air Force. The memorial is to be erected at the New Hampshire Veterans Cemetery in Boscowan, NH. It will honor all of those who have served in the Air Force, the AF Reserve, the NH Air National Guard and all members of former U.S. Army Air Service. Service Credit Union has promised to match all funds raised for the monument up to $20,000.
