SCU phishing scam - 4/30/08

Members and non-members have reported receiving a phishing email claiming to be from Service Credit Union.  Thank you to those of you who have already reported this scam.  To anyone else receiving this scam please forward to the FTC at spam@uce.gov.

The email subject line reads “Important Notification from Service C.U. Online Banking”.  This looks just like the phishing scam reported on 4/28/08 just with a new web address which is pretending to be SCU.

SCU phishing scam - 04/28/08

Members and non-members have reported receiving a phishing email claiming to be from Service Credit Union.
The email subject line reads “Important Notification from Service Credit Union Online Banking”.  The email tells you that someone has used your account from different locations and that there is an investigation into the matter and instructs you to click a link in the email.  When you run your mouse across the link provided you will find that the actual web address is different from the one that is listed.  The link directs recipients to a spoofed Service Credit Union home banking page which asks for home banking login information as well as sensitive personal information such as credit card numbers and expiration dates.

SCU phishing scam - 4/22/08

Members and non-members have reported receiving a phishing email claiming to be from Service Credit Union.
The email in this scam looks the same as the one reported to SCU last week.  However, a common tactic used by scammers is to use the same scam email but a different spoofed webpage. The email subject line still reads You Have 1 New Message and claims that the receiver’s Internet banking account is locked and instructs them to click a link in the email.  The link directs recipients to a spoofed Service Credit Union home banking page which asks for home banking login information as well as sensitive personal information such as credit card numbers and expiration dates.
